Wandering the woods as a child Doug gathered unnoticed, possibly unknown, details of the natural landscape. Nature was like an untapped unlimited expanse for exploration for him. He studied biology and photography in college, and taught biology in the classroom. His investigation of wildlife and land and landscapes through microscopic, telescopic and photographic lenses has inspired and enhanced his visual perspective on the world. From the minutiae in a leaf surface to patterns in ice, to villages of mushrooms or ribbons of a roaring rivers, or the scattering, smears and shades of light, the eye of this naturalist photographer is always searching for enlightening arrangements to capture and convey through a compelling photographic vision.
