Carole Kurwelnz’s passion for photography began as a young woman. Fulfilling family and work obligations, Carole came back to her love of photography much later in life. Much ofCarole’s learning has been self-taught, though, she has had many mentors along the way. Fortunate to be able to spend many summers in Maine along the rugged coastline, Kurwelnz became immersed in the ebb and flow of the tides, the sounds of the shorebirds. In Carole’s travels, she began to discover other interesting art forms such as urban decay, and architecture and could find abstract work in these places. As a member of the New Haven Camera Club, Kurwelnz competes in monthly competitions. She is also a member ofPSA (Photographic Society of America), and The ConnecticutPhotographers Association. Some of her formal training includes: Hazel Meredith, Peacock Studios, and North HavenAdult Education/Photography.Numerous awards including“Best Seascape of the Year”, Hendricks Head Light, NewHaven Camera Club, in June 2017. Honorable mention for“Nursery Web Spider in 2017, New England Camera Club, regional competition. Carole’s photography is currently exhibited at SpectrumGallery in Centerbrook, Connecticut.
