Deborah Simmons

Deborah is a music professor at Manchester Community College (MCC) preparing students for a vocation in music as well as those who seek music knowledge for personal interest.  She is conductor and clarinetist for the MCC Chamber Ensemble. Deborah also enjoys the process of creating visual art.  Simmons enjoys taking studio arts courses when able. Courses completed include: studio ceramics, drawing and 2-D design. In the past 15 years, Deborah has explored various mediums including, textiles, ceramics, acrylic, charcoal and ink.  She dedicates many hours of her spare time creating representational visual art of various mediums including acrylics, ink, and photography.

Simmons has participated in Solo shows at the Green Street Teaching and Learning Center of Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT, and Manchester Community College Galleria, Manchester, CT. Her work has been exhibited in several Group shows including Mystic Seaport’s Staff/Volunteer Art Show, Maritime Gallery, Spectrum Gallery, Centerbrook, CT, Alexey von Schlippe Gallery of Art, University of Connecticut, Avery Point, Groton, CT.
