Leslie A Landau earned her BFA in printmaking and drawing, from the Ohio State University, and Graduate Certification, MS in Art Education and 6th year in Educational Leadership, from Central CT State University. She is in her 24th year of her career as an art educator, as she continues to pursue her work in painting, drawing and collage. Her work has been included in many exhibitions across CT and MA, including the Mattatuck Museum, Slater Museum, CT Academy of Art, Silvermine Art Guild, Signature Gallery and CT Woman Artists, and was the recipient of the Philanthropic Institute’s Artist Renewal Grant, which culminated an exhibition of new work at the New Britain Museum of Art. Her work is held in private collections around New England, New York, Ohio and California.
Her work is based upon her captivation with the movement of a day’s light across natural surfaces and being able to capture a moment in time. She transforms her observations of natural form by heightening the intensity of color and constructing collages, by tearing into the surface and the creating of actual spaces within and around her work. The collages bring new challenges concerning space, which allow for a freer interpretation of color and implications of highlights and shadows upon form. Leslie works from her studio in Torrington, CT.
