Printmaking without a Press Intensive

Harbor Poem V, acrylic on paper, 20x16

Date: November 15

Time: 1-5pm

Cost: $130 per person. Material fee payable to instructor - $15; Members save $13
In this workshop students learn how to make high quality original prints without a press, and with easy soap and water cleanup. Using Golden Open acrylic paints and other water-based media, several methods of printmaking will be presented with clear step-by-step demonstrations. Students can also combine these methods for unlimited potential. Lighter weight papers for collage and other paper arts, or heavier printmaking paper for fine art prints can be used. Demonstrations and individual discussions will help each student to create work using their own aesthetic ideas. Open to all levels, beginners welcome.

Teaching artist, Suzanne Siegel takes long walks in places near the sea, searching for visual elements that excite her eye and mind. With a keen interest in such disparate visual ideas as rugged working harbors, tidal environments, and improvisational quilts, Suzanne works out her ideas in mixed media collage, using shapes and lines of color, texture, and value. She hand paints and inventively arranges papers and other materials.. Suzanne is currently represented by Carver Hill Gallery in Rockland, Maine, Cynthia Winings Gallery in Blue Hill, Maine, Cove Gallery in Wellfleet, MA, and Archipelago - The Island Institute in Rockland, Maine. She teaches workshops in Truro, MA, Nantucket, MA, Stowe, VT, Centerbrook, CT and other US locations. Suzanne is available for local and distance art mentoring, for individuals at all levels.
