Drew Ann Mingolello’s journey started unexpectedly in 2013. Having been laid off from her full time job as an insurance biller, Drew went back to school nine months later to became a medical assistant. Nothing ever came of that, she never found a job in her new profession. However, it was during the time at her internship at an urgent care facility that Drew saw something that would change her life forever: It was simply a few pieces of sea glass glued on to the top of framed glass. She loved the simplicity of it, and from that point on, Look and Sea was born.

Drew figured out how to add resin to the design to give her designs a more finished, polished look. Then one day shortly after, Drew started to see shapes of sailboats in her sea glass collection, and the rest is history! Drew’s imagination took off like wildfire, and from there, she has developed in to a mufti-talented arts specializing in not only mixed media but polymer clay sculpting as well.

Whimsically inspired designs with a touch of country are what Drew makes the most, but just recently has added French Country floral designs to her portfolio. Drew has come to realize of herself that there are many avenues of art she can go down, and will do so as much as she can; she doesn’t really have one style in particular.

Drew recently started to sculpt using polymer clay. There were embellishments she felt were needed in her other designs that she just couldn’t find, so she learned to use polymer clay and makes her own. Many times she will see a picture of an object and will then create what she just saw using clay. Birds have become one of the objects that she sculpts, and flowers.

Drew also participates in local art shows around Connecticut such as Milford’s Mother’s Day Fest, Milford’s Oyster Fest, Guilford’s Woman’s Club Art Show, Stratford’s Artists and Artisans in Paradise, and Spectrum Gallery’s Art Show.
